Security Guard Supervisor

Specific Job Description

The guard supervisor will be responsible for the co-ordination of all guarding activities on site during their periods of duty to guard, patrol and police an industrial premises to protect property and personnel against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other hazards. The supervisor will be responsible during their periods of duty for the co-ordination of in-house and contract guards, as well as conducting themselves, a wide range of security activities, including, but not limited to:
* Frequent but irregular security patrols.
* The examination of doors, windows, gates and other physical barriers to determine that they are secure.
* The observation of personnel to guard against thefts of company and personal property.
* The inspection of equipment and stores to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
* The reporting of any and all security irregularities.
* The provision of access to authorized personnel to company property.
* The issuing of security keys.
* Reacting to security incidents.
* Monitoring and reacting to CCTV, Access Control and Intruder Detection system alarms.
* Supervising a security control room.
* Leading personnel and vehicle searches

Please note - The supervisor will regularly be required to conduct the above duties themselves.

The supervisor will lead a small team of in-house and contracted guards during proscribed shift patterns in support of wider site security. Reporting directly to the site's Head of Security, the successful individual will be responsible for providing a front-of-house security capability, being the initial port of call for all enquiries relating to day-to-day security on the site. The individual will be responsible for reacting to incidents, whether security, health and safety or other duties as required. The individual will be responsible for the effective running of security outside of normal working hours, and will have to be capable of using sound judgement and an analytical mind to react to all incidents in a timely and secure manner.

The successful candidate must be capable of attaining and maintaining a high level of UK Government security clearance

* IT literate (in particular MS Office)
* Must be capable of showing a background in the security of large sites within the Corporate Security, military or police environments.
* Must have experience in physical security, including document security, physical security assets (such as fences and barriers), CCTV monitoring, and monitoring and reacting to intruder alarms.
* Experience of leading small security guard teams.
* Have experience of conducting personnel and vehicle searches.
* Must have a full UK driving licence.
* Be able to communicate at all levels and deal with a wide spectrum of people from diverse backgrounds.

The successful candidate must be capable of attaining and maintaining a high level of UK Government security clearance

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

* Desirable that the individual has experience working with guard dogs.
