Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Safety, Health & Environment Advisor within a large aerospace engineering organisation. You will ensure that Safety Health and Environment (SHE) compliance are managed effectively through implementation of the S|H|E management system in accordance with legal and corporate compliance

Key responsibilities include:

Ensure legal and corporate compliance for Safety and Environment. Completion of the List of Legislation and Evaluation of Compliance.
Efficient deployment of the company's S|H|E audit program and continuation of registrations OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
Responsible for completing company investigations and providing specialist Safety, Health and Environmental advice.
Engage with regulatory authorities, apply for relevant permits for the SBU.
All significant environmental risks have been identified, assessed and managed appropriately.
A comprehensive S|H|E audit program has been planned and is executed.
Findings from all S|H|E audits have identified owners, reasonable targets and are managed to closure appropriately.
Work closely with the S|H|E Advisor to promote and sustain a positive S|H|E culture.
Advise and support impact assessments and risk assessments.
Responsible to ensure all of the policies, procedures and strategy used for the execution, management and function of our S|H|E activities are effective and best practice.
Responsible to drive an attitude of continuous improvement of our S|H|E Systems.
Communicate performance indicators to the EAS Executive Management Team through monthly Safety Days and quarterly S|H|E Committee Meetings.
Apply training, both in house and formal when required
To produce and submit timely, comprehensive and accurate Safety and Environmental performance reports and metrics for the BU to the SBU, Division or EAS Executive Management.

You will have a thorough knowledge of UK environmental legislation and environmental managements systems; ISO 14001/EMAS. Knowledge of UK occupational health & safety legislation and OH&S managements systems including HSG65. ISO 18001 is desirable, but is not essential. You will hold an NEBOSH General Certificate & Associate Member of IOSH (Tech IOSH) and an Environmental Qualification (Associate Member of IEMA). The 1 week IOSH Environmental Course accreditation is sufficient. You will have previous experience of: Implementation and management of a S|H|E management system. Experience within an Engineering Environment Organisation and management of an audit system and actions. Ability to communicate and provide training to internal personnel
