Purchasing/Procurement Manager – Regional Air Transport

Blue Islands is a regional airline based in the Channel Islands operating ATR-42s and ATR-72s. A new Purchasing/Procurement Manager role has been created for the business that will need some initial role and responsibilities assimilation time on the ground in Guernsey and Jersey but does not necessarily need to continue to work from the Channel Islands. The client is looking for someone who has a purchasing/procurement background and good insight into aircraft engineering requirements.

Duties:

Ensure all engineering materials procurement is undertake cost effectively

Bring an understanding of correct ranging and scaling of spare parts to support the flying operation

To improve supply chain control and where appropriate introduce consignment stocks

Select new suppliers based upon evidence both of their process capability and their general attitude and approach to responsiveness and quality

Routinely review the capability of all suppliers against requirement

Proactively work with suppliers to introduce process improvements to further prevent the potential for quality failure on fit and/or reduce component costs

Recommend suppliers for qualification and/or disqualification based upon quality performance

Develop a positive, progressive relationship with all key suppliers

Develop with each key supplier documented control plans for all critical components and work with the supplier to ensure compliance

Working with the supplier directly, create supplier corrective action requests to address process failures

Who should apply?

You will have very good commercial acumen and be a very effective negotiator. You will be a thorough and analytical individual who will see processes through from start to a positive conclusion. You will be someone who naturally engages with stakeholders (internal and external) and in particular can build good rapport with suppliers. Salary dependent on individual/experience.
