Developing functional safety justifications for systems including communications, above water surveillance, and command and control to support Def Stan 00-56 safety case development.
Organising and chairing hazard identification workshops and safety committee meetings.
Carrying out and analysing results of studies such as failure mode analysis, fault tree analysis, and reliability centred maintenance (RCM) to gather evidence to support the safety case.
Engaging with third parties such as equipment or system suppliers to gather supporting safety case evidence.
The production and maintenance of safety case documentation (plans, policies and reports) to support project milestones.
Developing and defining safety requirements.
Conducting Risk Management in accordance with Def Stan 00-56.
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Product Safety Engineer:
Demonstrable experience in safety engineering/ product safety and activities contributing to the production of safety cases.
Experience in defence industry or a closely related field.
Broad knowledge of industry safety standards (such as Def Stan, IEC, Mil Stan or similar).
Experience with combat systems and/or maritime industry.
Relevant engineering qualification such as BEng/ MEng or equivalent.
What they're looking for in you:
They are looking for you to be hardworking, self-motivated and driven, with the ability to prioritise your workload appropriately.
You will be adaptable, as you will be exposed to a wide variety of engineering problems, often troubleshooting to meet project deadlines.
