Client

Our client, a leading regional airline based in the UK, due to continued expansion, are now seeking an Operational Safety Officer to join them on a permanent basis at their head office.

Overview

The Operational Safety Officer is responsible to the Head of Safety and Compliance Monitoring for assisting the Flight Ops and Ground Ops Departments in meeting the organisational safety goals set out in the Accountable Manager’s Safety Policy Statement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shall carry out Initial Classification, Risk Assessment and allocation of ownership of Operational Incident records raised in Q-pulse.
  • Ensure those reports identified as Mandatory IAW current aviation regulation are reported to the appropriate authority within the prescribed timescale.
  • Assist in investigation of Operational incidents and produce reports and recommendations for the consideration of the relevant Post Holder and functional SAG.
  • Liaise with OEMs, Service Providers, Customers and Regulatory Authorities regarding Operational safety reports and safety information.
  • Work closely with the Safety Data Analyst to support the production of accurate safety data and monitor and report safety data trends and KPIs via the appropriate safety meeting.
  • Chair regular Operational Safety Meetings and attend and contribute to other routine or adhoc safety meetings requiring Operational Safety input.
  • Promote a positive attitude toward Operational Safety, actively encourage open reporting and provide feedback on safety matters throughout the Company.
  • Deputise for the Engineering Safety Officer in their absence.
  • Contribute to regular Company safety bulletins and newsletters.
  • In conjunction with the relevant Post Holder provide guidance to staff in matters of operational safety.
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as required in pursuit of company efficiency and effective operation in relation to safety.
  • The Operational Safety Officer has direct access to the Accountable Manager on all Operational Safety matters if necessary.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have good knowledge Safety Management Systems and incident investigation processes and techniques.
  • They should have 5 years relevant aviation experience in a flight or ground Ops role.
  • They will need to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, be professional in manner and appearance, have an accurate and methodical approach to work and be able to adjust and prioritise workload to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Basic computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
  • Some knowledge of QPulse would be beneficial but training will be provided.
  • Having a formal qualification in safety investigation would be a distinct advantage.
