Oaklands Global are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Supervisor to join our leading defence client based in the Middle East, working in support of the Al Jawf Class Minehunters on a permanent basis.

** This role is based in the Middle East **

Job Purpose

You will be involved in the planning and supervision of the maintenance and repair work conducted by Technicians and semi-skilled personnel in support of the Al Jawf Class Minehunters. You will actively train assigned personnel in all aspects of this post whilst being in charge of the Forward support Unit (FSU) on the Base and during Deployment.

 

Role responsibilities:

 

  • To delegate to, and supervise maintenance and repair work carried out by the Mechanical Foreman and Technicians to support Al Jawf Class Minehunters. The work covered includes but is not limited to diesel machinery, hydraulic gear, pneumatics, propulsion units and bow thrusters, machinery control systems, air conditioning plant and all auxiliary and ancillary engineering plant, fittings and pipework systems.
  • To monitor the FSU upkeep and repair programme operated by the workshops, and to report its availability for operational deployments. To be in charge of the logistics arrangements for a deployment and the staff allocated by each department for the task. To deploy with the FSU accommodation during deployment will be within the FSU complex.
  • To control the implementation of the Maintenance Management System procedures, and to ensure that Technicians use established fault and analytical maintenance techniques.
  • To liaise with the QA Department to establish, implement and maintain a system for the calibration, maintenance and periodic testing of all test gear and special equipment and to work with QA personnel in ensuring implementation of document control and regulation procedures in all work and production areas.
  • To ensure that control and discipline is being maintained over subordinate Technicians at work to ensure acceptable standards of behaviour.
  • To ensure that adequate staff training is provided throughout the shop, informing the shophead of all training requirements.
  • To undertake all other duties as assigned on Al Jawf Class Minehunters.
  • To comply with all RSNF procedures, directives and Codes of Practice.
  • To observe confidentiality of RSNF data at all times.
  • The RSNF may designate this billet as a training billet. The incumbent will be required to impart knowledge of position-related skills, duties and responsibilities in such a manner as to permit assimilation on the part of the RSNF trainee.
  • Maintenance of the Al Jawf Class Minehunters and associated support equipment in accordance with the RSNF Al Jawf Class Maintenance Management System

 

 

 

 

 

To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Experience in the mechanical field with time spend in a supervisory capacity.
  • A good working knowledge of the equipment fitted in the "Sandown" class ships is beneficial.
  • Substantial workshop supervisory experience would be beneficial
  • Naval background
