Composite Manufacturing Engineer - Aerospace - Luton

Job purpose:
To support state of the art programs, to facilitate new production programs, develop existing programs and provide a support to future programs and to lead the development and improvement of composite manufacturing methods.

The Role:
Reporting to the Lead manufacturing engineer you will support the Ice Protection Systems (IPS) programmes. This will include:

Leading composite manufacturing practical process knowledge expertise for the site
Taking the lead in providing day-day support to manufacturing operations
Leading structured problem solving project linked to day-day manufacturing issues
Take responsibility for updating engineering documentation to maintain configuration control
Providing MRB (Material Review Board) support to existing programs and lead improvements to develop the MRB process
Management of small capital and tooling projects
Support continuous improvement activities
Manage equipment reliability and TPM programmes
Engineering/Operational Standard Work Implementation

What we will be looking for in you:

Essential:
Composite manufacturing experience with a wealth of process, material, tooling, lamination and NDT knowledge of both sandwich and solid construction composite parts.
You should have relevant and sufficient experience in a manufacturing engineering environment in high value complex composite parts.

Desirable:
Experience of using Virtek laser positioning equipment, program changes, calibration and file maintenance.
You must be able to communicate and lead effectively at all levels within an organisation and be flexible in your approach.
A degree in a relevant engineering subject is highly desirable.
Demonstrable experience of practical problem solving, specifying and purchasing capital equipment
Experience of MRB and in providing frontline support to manufacturing operations, repair procedures and method improvement.
Specific experience in the application of lean six sigma tools, ideally qualified to green belt.
Experience in a composite manufacturing environment
Experience or an aspiration for developing leadership capabilities
