About Your Job

Responsible for allocate the aircraft resources of Qatar Airways optimising network efficiency, maximising profitability whilst taking strategic growth into account. Developing, planning and implementing the overall strategic goals of the Company’s network system. Monitoring the profitability of Qatar Airways route network and continuously propose changes to adjust to demand and changing market conditions. 

 

Accountabilities:

Tactical / Operational

  • Evaluate and recommend changes to current and future network requirements to meet the organisation’s needs
  • Develop proposals, from a passenger mix and connectivity point of view, on how to improve profitability
  • Optimise fleet assignments against difficult demand levels, balancing operating costs and spill/recapture rates
  • Identify and develop business cases to recommend new, potentially profitable destinations
  • Identify and develop business cases for routes where there is potential to increase frequency
  • Identify and develop business cases for routes where equipment types can be changes to optimise profitability
  • Identify and develop business cases for routes where flight timings can be adjusted and optimised to ensure maximum effectivity and profitability
  • Evaluate the potential profitability of different forecasted routes 
  • Plan all flights with proper slot clearance, tracking historic slots
  • Lead the evaluation of competing itineraries within the QR network, harvesting valuable aircraft time through design of a more efficient means of transporting connecting passengers
  • Design and implement a process for determining capacity for each business schedule, improving cross functional communication between network planning, commercial and operations and thus, overall schedule quality
  • Develop network planning standards and practises in order to improve the quality of analytics, forecasting and communication
  • Manage and evaluate codeshare schedules and changes
  • Liaise with revenue management to understand the type of schedule required to support target customers in given markets for optimal results
  • Manage schedule changes to protect high value flights to prevent loss of revenue

Management & Leadership

  • Train and develop new hires to understand airline planning to ensure a high standard of service delivery
  • Maintain quality control over all Network Planning business cases
  • Propose department objectives and priorities to align with, and support, business objectives
  • Regularly evaluate procedures and practises and make appropriate changes, as and when required.
  • Lead/and/or participate in meetings/calls with other Commercial Departments
  • Develop and secure open and transparent communication with other Departments

Lead ad-hoc Network Planning Projects


 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Essential

§  Bachelors Degree or equivalent

 

Previous Experience:

Essential

§   Expert - minimum 8 years of job-related experience required

  • 5 to 7 years of previous network planning experience at Manager level
  • Experience of network forecasting models
  • Experience of leading a team
