Subject Matter Expert who

•Is responsible for IATA's achievement of key advocacy and external relations targets across the assigned geography.

•Liaises with member airlines and other relevant industry and government stakeholders across the region to maximize the value of their membership in IATA and coordinate between the Account/ Relationship Manager and headquarters (HQs) on key airline aeropolitical and regulatory issues
•Drives the achievement of key divisional targets across the region

Responsibilities

Delivery of Member and External Relations (MER) Objectives

•Advocate and lobby key IATA positions to national governments and regulatory authorities including general legislative, regulatory and policy developments, industry taxation and slots as well as issues related to industry economics and environment;

•Develop and coordinate action plans on a country by country basis to manage IATA priorities and targets across the cluster ensuring both a unified regional approach and an adequate country-specific coverage of the MER topics;

•Provide guidance and leadership at the cluster level on key regulatory issues, including coordinating the lobbying for IATA positions on the main Member and External Relations and Environmental regulatory issues;

•Coordinate with and support Account and Relationship Managers to manage Member and External Relations priorities and targets and delivery of Member and External Relations agenda across the region;

•Work closely with other divisions on all cross-functional areas to build, maintain and support strong stakeholder management with airlines, governments and all entities in relation to issues affecting members and airline business across the region;

•Participate in building and maintaining proactive approach to relationships with Member airlines and other industry stakeholders, including airports, authorities, suppliers and service providers across the region; create and maintain relevant partnerships;

•Promote IATA’s policies, positions, objectives, activities, services and products among airlines, governments, regional organizations, airports, ANSPs and other industry stakeholders

•Maintain currency on industry related development in the region, taking or recommending actions which are consistent with IATA’s policies and objectives.

•Represent IATA in relevant regional industry events, attend meetings and conferences with industry stakeholders; organize meetings as appropriate.

•Support the organization of IATA’s events in the region including Aviation Days and Aeropolitical Forums.

Cluster Team Work and Expert Knowledge

•Collaborate with and support the Cluster Project Team in an agile way;

•Partner with regional Subject Matter Experts to ensure a constant upskilling and regional capacity building;

•Provide timely reports to the Cluster Project Leaders regarding progress of work of the set objectives

•Maintain a proactive relationship with Subject Matter Experts at Headquarter level where applicable and benefit from expert guidance;

•Support fostering a culture of inclusion, integrity, team spirit, strategic thinking, partnering, innovative pioneering and acting with a human touch

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

•University degree in International Relations, Law, Economics, or Political Science or related field of expertise;

•Minimum 6 years of working experience with at least three years working in a similar role;

•Strong knowledge and experience in networking with stakeholders, governments and other institutions on aviation as well as economic matters

•A strong track record of successful public speaking engagements

•Fluency in English (CEFR: C1) and French/Arabic (CEFR:B2)

Preferred Qualifications

•Advanced degree is an asset e.g. MBA

•Previous Experience in managing, leading or overseeing projects is an asset

•Advanced Proficiency in MS Office, Project Management tools or/and CRMs (e.g. Salesforce)

•Proficiency in regional languages (CEFR B1)
