Job Title

Legal Counsel

Role Purpose

Provide support to the Senior Legal Counsel in providing sound and pragmatic legal advise and consultations pertaining to legal matters/dispute resolutions, risks, legal policies, procedures and compliance to corporate governance in order to protect and mitigate the Group from exposure and liabilities

Key Accountabilites

1) Support the Senior Legal Counsel in drafting, vetting and negotiating contracts, to ensure legal solutions are sound and reflective of the intended business proposition in order to ensure the Group is making full use of its contracting

2) Provide sound legal opinions, expert advise and pragmatic business solutions to Business Units in resolving legal and litigation issues/ matters that may be encountered by the Business Units in order to protect the legal interest of the Group

3) Support the Senior Legal Counsel in managing the appointed external legal firms/ lawyers, in order to better integrate the legal capacity of the Group (both internal and external) to ensure Group’s legal bench strength is optimized

4) Execute GLP's initiatives, strategies and programs to support the achievement of relevant business objectives and targets, in order to derive full intended benefit of the strategies and programs for the Group

5) Prepare, implement and roll-out the training / awareness programs set out by General Counse in order to facilitate the building of legal awareness within the Group

Qualification & Experience

Degree in Law with at least 2 years experience in legal practice & minimum 4 years as inhouse counsel

Skill & Knowledge

Strong knowledge of various foreign, local government, state law and regulation as well as aviation law, intellectual property, finance, etc.

Ability to work effectively in a complex environment building successful working relationships across organisational, professional and operational boundaries

Able to prioritise work effectively

Have good interpersonal and analytical skills

Key Challenges

1) Understanding the business requirements of the Company whilst facilitating the business needs contractually without compromising the Company's legal position

2) Ensuring delivery of legal advisory and support services are of high standards, relevant and on-time
