Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor - West London
The role is to provide accurate and clear interpretation of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and codes of practice, EU Directives and best practice to the organisation, contractors and other stakeholders within an Aviation company. Ensuring changes to legislation, codes of practice, regulations, policies and procedures are identified, communicated and implemented in an affective and timely manner.
Provide advice and guidance to engineering departments in respect of health and safety legislation and safe working practices and to champion health and safety across all areas of the organisation so as to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and educating them in their responsibilities and safe working practices.
Write procedures and policies which drive safe working practices for engineering colleagues, contractors and visitors.
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with Engineering managers, colleagues, trade unions, contractors/sub-contractors, partners and other stakeholders.
Ensure detailed accident/incident investigations and reports are carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and corporate procedures.
Monitor, investigate and review accidents statistics to establish underlying causes, identify trends and develop strategies for addressing these causes & educating colleagues
To participate in consultations with Trade Union representing the Engineering workforce regarding health, safety, and environmental issues.
Prepare health & safety reports and statistical/performance data and present reports to Board, Corporate, Panels and forums as required.
Candidates should be Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills, written oral and presentation skills. Proven leadership and communication skills at all levels within the business with strong influencing and decision making skills. You will be able to demonstrate project management and techniques and highly customer driven. Recognised Level 3 Health & Safety qualification, e.g. NVQ, NEBOSH, NGC and/or IGC and a management or business qualification
Due to the nature of the business the successful applicant must be able to obtain an airside driving licence (hold UK manual driving licence). Instruction/teaching qualification associated to H&S.
