Job Title: HR Manager

Line Manager (Job Title): Head of HR

Purpose of the Role:

You will be reporting to the Head of HR and will deputise for him in his absence. You will lead a high performing HR Operations Team, delivering an efficient, reliable and customer focused service to a broad spectrum of customer groups. In functional terms you will oversee generalist HR operations.
As an experienced HR professional, you will provide detailed knowledge in various HR areas of expertise. You will build valuable relationships with both internal and external stakeholders while implementing robust and resilient HR Operations processes, policies and procedures.
You will be expected to lead specific Human Resource projects & initiatives as required
You will have overall responsibility for all HR operations transactional processes and their continuous development.
You will deputise for the Head of HR Operations in his / her absence.

Essential job holder qualifications & experience at recruitment:
CIPD Graduate Diploma or above in HR practice
Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
A cultural knowledge / understanding of the military environment
Aerospace, Engineering or Service Industry sector experience
Management experience, with direct management of an HR team
HR policy, procedure and process writing skills (tested)
ER/IR best practice experience
Payroll experience

Desirable job holder qualifications & experience at recruitment:

Military / RAF / Reservist understanding / experience.
Airline knowledge / experience (understanding of the challenges of working in a regulatory environment)
Experience of having worked with a culturally diverse workforce
Management experience of HRBPs, HR Advisors, Administrators and Payroll
Business Improvement experience - project involvement
Experience of having worked in a fast paced, dynamic and professionally challenging (operational) environment.
Experience of having worked in a multisite environment.
A high level of numeracy - (tested)
Highly organised, methodical, excellent influencing skills, good written and oral communication, good problem solver can think out of the box and isn't phased by the ambiguous or operating in the "grey".
Excellent people management skills, patience and diplomacy and tact.

Job description responsibilities:

Provision of a 'best in class' HR Operations function.
Direct report to the Head of HR, with line management of and responsibility for the HR Advisor pool, the Resource Mgr and the Welfare & Wellbeing Mgr, the HR Operations team.
Provide leadership and develop your team to ensure they are skilled and motivated to achieve their HR objectives in support of the corporate objectives.
To contribute to the further development and review of the HR Operations provision in fulfilling People Strategy in conjunction with the Head of HR and HR&TD
Establish and lead on HR Operational projects and HR key issues which develop a proactive and continuous improvement approach.
Ensuring good relationships with all Stakeholders, civilian and military.
Provision of a fit for purpose and legally compliant suite of HR Operations processes, policies and procedures, undertaking an annual review and management of same. Ensuring the communication of and access to these HR documents is robust for all our staff. Special focus on the Employee Reference Manual
Accountability for your section of the HR Connect page
Ownership and management of "HR Select" operations and self-service modules (our HRIS). Ensuring that our HRIS data is kept up to date and accurate and that all our workflows are maintained and managed correctly. Regular data audits to ensure accuracy and workflow review to improve the service we offer to our customers.
