Head of Marketing
The Head of Marketing will work in conjunction with the Communications & Strategy team supporting them through a rapid period of growth in revenues and markets. The role will lead the development of a range of marketing tools to articulate the Aviation brand across the agreed markets in response to requirements and guidelines defined by the Market Communications Team and its’ regional Sales and Strategy managers. The main focus of this role will be to interpret and deliver on the aviation’s indirect B2B marketing strategy, translating key messages and business objectives into tactical and executable marketing activities across digital, print and event channels.
In addition, the Head of Marketing will work closely with the PR Manager and central PR team to develop strategies to ensure that the Aviation business and its range of connectivity products and messages are recognised by key media and relevant stakeholders. Leading a small team, the Head of Marketing will ensure a seamless and strong service ensuring first class market communications.
Working closely with the Director of Market Communications along with key internal stakeholders, in-region partners and external agencies to develop compelling, effective and integrated lead-generating marketing campaigns and activities with appropriate media selection, creative or any other part of the marketing mix, in line with strategic marketing objectives.
Establish effective working relationships across the Aviation Business Unit to develop messaging for each relevant product and service, which forms the foundation of all marketing communications activities.
Build strong relationships with the sales and business development teams, ensuring that messages and objectives are aligned.
Support event strategy to ensure clear outcomes for Aviation from both external trade shows, conferences and also broader conferences.
Work closely with the PR Manager and Central PR team to help identify and develop appropriate media strategies that will counter competitor claims in the market, increase the recognition of the business and it’s range of industry leading products across the sector.
Manage effective working relationships with marketing colleagues, as well as external agencies, to ensure that the Aviation requirements are effectively delivered.
Monitor the relevant Aviation marketing budget, establishing clear objectives and reporting structures for marketing campaigns, ensuring that Aviation gets best value from our agency relationships.
Work with the Marketing Manager and Digital Marketing, to measure, review, analyse and report on results of campaigns and other marketing activities to ensure continuous improvement
Ideal candidate’s profile:
Business to business marketing communications professional with significant experience across most aspects of the marketing mix.
Marketing professional with both breadth and depth of all aspects of marketing communications
Experience of identifying and shaping PR opportunities to enhance reputations and recognition of businesses and products
Demonstrable entrepreneurial spirit, thriving on ambiguity and happy operating in a fast paced “start-up” environment
Leadership and influencing skills that inspire confidence
Fast moving, quick thinking, combining a long term strategic view with tactical speed
Delivery focus and project management experience
Proven track record of managing within a matrix structure
Good understanding of, and experience in digital marketing including, ideally, PPC, email marketing, B2B social media, video syndication etc.
Excellent interpersonal skills with collaborative working style
Solid experience of working with external agencies and suppliers
Experience in supporting tradeshows and seminars through the production of ad hoc marketing materials
High degree of literacy, first class written communications skills with experience of copywriting for marketing collateral and advertising
Excellent attention to detail
Experience in the Aviation or Airlines industry
Understanding of mobile satellite or cellular industry
Experience of working in a B2C environment with telecoms/technology products or services
Degree level educated
