CAE Parc Aviation is currently assisting a client with the recruitment of the Head of Design.

Head of Design

Oversight of the Design Assurance System (DAS). Planning, coordinating and managing the design and certification of aircraft modifications.


  • Oversight of the Design Assurance System (DAS).
  • All aspects of airworthiness regarding Design and Flight Test.
  • Planning of design and certification activities and management of the Design Office, including personnel management.
  • The final approval of Changes.

Additional Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and sustaining a good relationship with EASA.
  • Closely co-operating with in-house technical specialists to resolve production, installation and in-service issues.
  • Close liaison with the project management, logistics, production and installation functions.
  • Formulation of design proposals and estimates.
  • Customer liaison relating to design matters.
  • Creation and maintenance of records of Design Office staff.
  • Managing the on-going training requirements of design staff.

Revenue/Budget/Cash management responsibility:

  • Drafting and managing the design office budget.

Key Technical Skills / competencies

  • EASA Form 4 Holder.
  • Aircraft design and certification in an EASA environment.
  • Excellent understanding of EASA Part 21J DOA and BCAR A8-21 DOA regulations.
  • Good understanding of EASA Part 21G POA, BCAR A8-21 POA and Part 145 MOA regulations.
  • Excellent understanding of EASA CS codes
  • Compliance Verification Engineer with one or more of the following areas of expertise:

    - Structures

    - Flight

    - Electrical/Avionics Systems

    - Cabin Safety

    - NVIS

  • Job planning, co-ordination and man management.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Problem solving and creative thinking.
  • Strength of character.

Company/Industry Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience of design and certification in the aerospace industry.


  • BSc, BEng or HND/C in aeronautical or a related engineering subject.
