Head of Aircraft Maintenance - Commercial Aircraft - Sussex


Full time ? 37.5 hours per week


Purpose of the role


To ensure that all fleet aircraft related maintenance and logistics activity performed at the Base Maintenance Facility is carried out in-line with regulatory, quality and H&S requirements and to defined timeline targets, whilst ensuring effective commercial management of all budgetary costs and fleet cost of ownership.


About You
You'll be a seasoned leader, with extensive provable background in Airline maintenance or MRO activities, reporting to, and influencing at Board level.
You'll be educated to degree standard or higher, with extensive industry experience, first class PC skills - MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint are essential, with knowledge of Ultramain highly desired.
You will be unrivalled in your knowledge of CAA, EASA, and other national airworthiness regulations.
You will have excellent people and performance management skills, including change management, appraisals and compliance.
You'll be a customer champion, with solid business capabilities, the ability to pick, build and coach complex teams of multifaceted engineering and support professionals to exceed performance


Key tasks
? Define departmental budgets.
? Deliver maintenance plans to time and budget.
? Deliver cost, quality and productivity improvements through the use of Continuous Improvement.
? Effective operational decision making.
? Deliver effective safety leadership.
People & Performance Management
? Provide sound leadership and direction to team
? Set clear and measurable team and individual objectives and manage performance appraisal process is effectively applied
? Manage selection, recruitment & induction, ensure team training and development needs are delivered, managed and are in compliance
? Coach and mentor team
? Lead and manage team through change
? Drive highest standards of health & safety awareness
Prioritising & Planning
? Maintain overview of serviceability & compliance across the fleet
? Work closely with the Operations and Planning Manager to ensure all safety, maintenance and operational Issues are resolved in a timely manner
? Attend Operational meetings as the Part 145 focal.
? Ensure all reporting is timely and accurate
