Group Logistics & Purchasing Manager

British International Helicopters (BIH) has an immediate and exciting opportunity for a Group Logistics and Purchasing Manager. Based in the south west, you will manage a small team organising the purchase, storage and distribution of goods directly associated with BIH’s operations and maintenance both at our UK bases and worldwide, including the Falkland Islands.

The successful candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills, and be fully IT literate including use of logistics management applications. You must be able to work with others and off your own initiative whilst under pressure, with the ability to reach tight deadlines to maintain the availability of our aircraft within an EASA regulated operation. Your organisational skills will be relied on for long term supply planning and new project management in association with our aircraft engineering and financial departments or other future project teams.  Effective and positive interaction within a small team environment is essential, as is the ability to contribute perceptively and with insight to BIH’s development plans.

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge:

Essential:
A proven supply chain management record
Experience of PC based Logistics management applications (preferably aerospace related).
Key supplier contract negotiation experience with OEMs and 3rd party component suppliers.
Project Management team experience.
Understanding and use of worldwide logistic transport options

Desirable:
Management & Leadership position experience.
Import/Export Controls, CPC & Tariff codes
ITAR.
Supplier certification for aircraft components.
Aerotrac aircraft fleet management IT systems.
EASA Part 145.
Air Safety Management Systems.
UK Ministry of Defence air and sea shipping procedures.

Previous experience should include Purchasing background (preferably in aerospace), PBH Contracts, Negotiating with suppliers, Stock controls and Customs procedures.
