Joining a multidisciplinary team supporting the Earth Observation, Navigation and Science projects, the Project Controller will be in charge of the financial planning and monitoring of a project.

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the interaction between financial performance (Cost/Sales, gross margin, cash & working capital) and schedule, risk, quality & contract.

It is essential that the candidate has an understanding of the factors influencing liquidity and is capable of ensuring that the project team are aware of these.  An understanding of the functioning and implications of foreign exchange requirements is also essential.

Qualifications and skills:

Essential

The candidate must have:

  • A thorough understanding of the interaction between financial performance (Cost/Sales, Gross margin, cash & working capital) and schedule, risk, quality & contract.
  • An understanding of the factors influencing liquidity and is capable of ensuring that the project team are aware of these.
  • An understanding of the functioning and implications of foreign exchange requirements

Desirable

  • SAP knowledge is a plus
  • CIMA would be a plus
  • Experience in operational areas like Engineering, Manufacturing, Project is a plus

Duties and Activities

  • Financial planning, monitoring and reporting of the project performance against budgets / targets, highlighting discrepancies and proposing mitigation actions if needed.
  • Administration of the project financials: profit & loss, cash, working capital,
  • Contributes to cash planning (Pre Deliveries/Advance Payments, European Technology Initiatives, CAPEX, inventory, supplier spend planning)
  • Work closely with the project manager and be aware of the financial and development (technical, schedule) aspects of the project
  • Anticipate problems, proposing ways to improve the project financial position in an independent manner
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative data to support discussions and decision making at Management level
  • Support the business in key project changes decisions (business cases, rates, major modifications...)
  • Manage risks & opportunities
  • Produce on a timely and in an accurate manner the monthly project reports and the quarterly full updates of the project financial status
  • Liaise with the contracts/commercial departments to ensure all contract changes and related tender vettings are actioned promptly to meet financial requirements
  • Support proposals & commercial deals
  • For development programs, monitoring of the program through Earned Value Management, together with business stakeholders
