Field Support Engineer (f/m)

Helicopter Rescue Hoists & Aircraft Cargo Winches

Welcome to UTC Aerospace Systems, one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. We design, manufacture and service systems and components and provide integrated solutions for commercial, regional, business and military aircraft, helicopters and other platforms.

We are also acknowledged as one of the world's leading suppliers in the field of helicopter rescue hoists and aircraft cargo winch systems – with good reason. Our products are unrivaled when it comes to innovation, performance, handling, and reliability. What is more, they are designed to excel even in the toughest conditions. Additionally, we offer our customers genuine added value in the form of a global service network. It is precisely here that you will play a pivotal role.

Based at our site in Martinsried near Munich, you will spend around 50% of your time on assignments at customers operating mainly within the EMEA region. This calls for an engineering expert capable of assisting customers with all technical issues and queries as well as a trainer with the ability to pass on knowledge and insure that our products are used in such a way as to deliver best-in-class results. It goes without saying that we will prepare you for this challenging role by offering an extensive induction program – including stays at our headquarters in California and at our facility in France. Continuous learning will also form an integral part of this position.

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide troubleshooting and repair for rescue hoists and cargo winches.
  • Respond to all technical inquiries by customers via email, phone, or site visits.
  • Solve full range of technical issues; determine the course of action depending on the specific problem and, if necessary, personally perform repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for customers.
  • Draw up detailed field reports on completed work.
  • Cooperate closely with our production sites in the US and in France.
  • Continuously improve personal knowledge of new and existing products.

 Requirements:

  • Degree: Bachelor of Science or Master of Engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance and repair. Helicopter experience, alternatively ICAO or local equivalent maintenance license, would be a plus.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and other engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and implementing service bulletins and other technical documentation.
  • Advanced technical English as well as fluency in German, French or Spanish is required.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills. Previous instructional experience would be a plus.
  • Staunch team player and dedicated service provider with well-developed intercultural and social competence.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for short- and long-term assignments.
