My client in Gloucester is offering the challenging, but exciting opportunity to join their Health Safety & Environment department.

Responsibilities

*To deputise for the Health Safety & Environment Manager when necessary.
*Analytical analysis of waste materials and ground waters.
*To supervise, train and develop the skills and knowledge of an Environmental Technician.
*Provide technical expertise regarding all waste materials that leave the site.
*To carryout routine Occupational Hygiene sampling of process conditions for bacteria levels and provision of technical advice on the results.
*Coordination of maintenance and calibration of Laboratory analysis equipment in order to meet compliance.
*Coordinate the management systems for compliance of environmental operating permits.
*To provide advice and assistance in the identification of environmental improvements programmes such as
*Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) and ISO14001.
*Chemical analysis and risk assessment of hazardous materials used on site.
*Provision of a chemical approval system.
*Be a leading member of the sites emergency support team to deal with unexpected emergencies, which may threaten human life or the environment.
*Train company employees in Health Safety and Environmental skills needed to safe guard themselves, others and protection of the environment.
*Coordinate the management systems for the compliance of the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH).
*Assist other team members where necessary to enable the department to complete it functional requirements.
*To coordinate group improvement activities and projects with other relevant employees and consultants.
*Maintain knowledge of current legislative requirements relevant to your responsibilities.

Candidate skills and requirements

*A formal degree in Environmental science e.g.IEMA or NEBOSH.
*You will have had industrial site experience, ideally within manufacturing.
*You will ideally have experience in reporting to the Environment Agency and have experience in being responsible for ISO14001.
*Experience dealing with various environmental compliance issues.
*Experience of carrying out various audits.
