CNC Machinist

New exciting permanent CNC Machinist position in Chelmsford!!!

Our client is one of the world's leading global defence, security and aerospace companies, who work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries. They are currently looking for a CNC Machinist to join they Chelmsford based team.

As a CNC Machinist you will be instrumental in assisting with the realisation of innovative designs, as products move from design through to production and machining. You will be working with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineering and research staff, as well as teams from other development facilities.

This role will provide you with the opportunity for involvement in truly interesting work, within a highly collaborative, supportive and dynamic environment.

Your main responsibilities as a CNC Machinist will involve:

  • Programming, setting and running 3 & 4 axis CNC milling machines using CADCAM software and also via the machine control
  • Manufacturing small batch / prototype components ranging from highly accurate aerospace components through to lab use demonstrator items within time and budget
  • Demonstrating the potential to programme and operate a 5 axis milling machine in the future.
  • Programming, setting and running CNC turning machines as well as operate manual milling machines and lathes
  • Ensuring that all manufacturing activities are undertaken in line with Applied Intelligence Labs process and SHE requirements

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Completed an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, machining or tool-making is essential
  • Extensive experience of milling is essential, with additional technical competency in turning also required
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 Engineering (or equivalent) or higher
  • Be able to programme, set and operate different machine tools
  • Experienced CNC machinist (turning & milling)
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of 3D CADCAM programming is essential
  • Able to liaise with broad range of stakeholders
  • Ideally be able to give advice on DFM issues
