Job Title:Base Manager

Department: Aircraft Maintenance

Job Purpose

Overall responsibility for the day to day management of Chevrons base maintenance facility at Prestwick Airport including the successful completion of all maintenance activity, management and resolution of complex issues and delivery of customer requirements. Responsible for the delivery of agreed strategic imperatives in the context of the base maintenance facility, leading continuous improvement as well as the delivery of the financial plan to budget. Accountable for ensuring all regulatory requirements and company procedures are adhered to along with all health and safety requirements

Principle accountabilities and outputs (primary "objectives")

  • Responsible for achieving business profit, productivity, safety and quality goals
  • Communication with customers to ensure that all commitments are met or exceeded, working with them as well as the Aircraft Check Managers and other support staff to meet all contractual obligations
  • Develop and track the financial performance against the agreed budget
  • Drive the financial performance of the facility to maximize cost reduction and deliver productivity improvement
  • Champion continuous improvement to maximise improvement activities and opportunities
  • Provide overall leadership and direction in the setting, communicating and delivery of agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) with respect to Quality, Production, Manpower, Health & Safety and Compliance
  • Provide leadership in the areas of staff selection, training and development, process and procedure implementation
  • Lead and coach the Aircraft Check Managers and other support staff, guiding them in their current positions and assisting with career development and training
  • Work across organisational boundaries to develop strong internal stakeholders relationships to support the business
  • Partner with all internal and key external stakeholders to achieve the delivery of all contracted business
  • Provide business leadership in the ongoing development of the MRO software and associated IT solutions supporting the business
  • Deputising for the GM Operations and Engineering in his absence
  • Ah-Hoc project work as may be required within the scope of the role

Person Specification:Base Manager

Qualifications

  • Full EASA Part 66 B1 or B2 and C license holder on at least two aircraft variants on BAE SYSTEMS BAe 146/RJ Series and Boeing 737 Series and Airbus A320 Fam
  • Have a relevant engineering qualification (such as related degree ,HNC etc)
  • ILM Level 5 Management

Experience and Knowledge

  • Full understanding of regulatory requirements in relation to Part 145 and Part M
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a senior managerial role in a MRO or airline Base Maintenance environment
  •  Proven strong leadership qualities
  • Comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety and Compliance
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a challenging competitive environment
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Demonstrable experience of Change Management
  • Comprehensive understanding of the management of departmental budgets
