Cobham Aviation Services has a requirement for a Base Manager. The Base Manager reports directly to the General Manager of the Special Mission EMEA. You will be responsible for the daily running of the site through operational leadership and management of all activities. This includes coordination of operational and maintenance activities, sustaining safe and compliant flying operations, local HR management, commercial engagement with local suppliers. You will provide regular reports to the Spoke leadership team and cost control through budget management.
Location Teesside Basingstoke with occasional UK travel.
Cobham Aviation Services provides customers with integrated services for airborne special mission operations. Its capabilities include aerial surveillance, operational readiness training, aircraft modification and integration, search and rescue, and environment surveillance and response.
As a Base Manager your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Educational / Vocational Qualifications
Suitably qualified, experienced and knowledgeable in the management of flying operations together with the management of the associated personnel and infrastructure.
Flight Operations management practices and principles
Sound knowledge of the principles and practical experience of the execution of an aviation Safety Management System
General business management principles including budget setting/control and the LCM process
Reasonable level of competence with the suite of Microsoft Office tools
Management of flight operations in a civil environment
A background in military aviation or government aviation - desirable
Suitably qualified and experienced in Special Mission operations
Delivery of contracted flying operations
As a Base Manager your responsibilities will include:
Safety and Compliance
Demonstrate total commitment to safe and compliant activities across all operations through leading by example and by the active use of the Company Safety Management System.
Support the AOC Compliance system, the Maintenance Quality System through active engagement in the annual audit programme.
Meet or exceed the CASE scores for the Teesside site.
Ensure efficient flying operations at Teesside deployed locations through effective leadership and regular liaison with Operations Control at Bournemouth.
Maintain records in accordance with regulation and Company requirements.
Assume direct responsibility for the safety, health and environmental well-being of all personnel on the site.
Ensure that the infrastructure at the base is maintained to an adequate standard to meet regulatory requirements and support operational activity.
Maintain the required ISO accreditations as required by the Company to meet business and regulatory needs.
Ensure that operational performance meets or exceeds customer requirements.
Support line managers in the organisation, administration and control of operational personnel at Teesside and act as line manager for support personnel.
Create, manage and sustain key relationships within the customer community at Air Command, with the Durham Tees Valley Airport operating authority and local suppliers as required to sustain operations.
Manage costs and financial performance within span of control within the agreed overhead budgets.
Manage all aspects of Protected Material, security sensitive data and equipment retained at the site.
Establish and maintain constructive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure that all training is conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and meets Company standards.
Manage the welfare, development and potential of direct reports through regular reviews and the PDR process.
Maintain effective relationships with Operations Control staff (at Bournemouth and Teesside) and with the Engineering department to sustain efficient flying operations
