PNG Air with its new fleet of ATR 72-600 series aircraft and a workforce of over 700 is now one of the largest airline operators in this region with extensive operations in the domestic network. The airline is also expanding rapidly to cater for the phenomenal growth in the Papua New Guinea economy.

The Company, through its Engineering Division, is seeking potential candidates for the position of Base Maintenance Manager. This position reports to the Manager Engineering and is responsible for managing the accomplishment of all line and base [Hanger] maintenance performed on PNG AIR aircraft (ATR and Dash 8).

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Recognising safety as a core value in all decision making involving line and base maintenance

  • Giving leadership and direction to the application of safety and quality management principles and practices in the conduct of aircraft maintenance activity

  • Demonstrating personal commitment to quality standards, service culture and professionalism and clearly communicating standards and expectations

  • Managing the accomplishment of all line and base [Hanger] maintenance performed on PNG AIR aircraft

  • Liaising with the Part 119 Manager Continuing Airworthiness in regard to aircraft availability

  • Directing the activities of shift supervisors, maintenance engineers and technical staff

  • Ensuring engineering occurrences and defect incidents area are reported within the required reporting period

  • Directing supervisors rostered on the line and Base{hanger] to ensure aircraft maintenance engineers are supervised and that the established and documented safe maintenance practices are adhered to

  • Ensuring that required technical data, tooling equipment and spare parts are distributed for the correct accomplishment of planned maintenance tasks

  • Ensuring maintenance is carried out in accordance with the standards and procedures in the MOE

  • Ensuring ground support equipment is serviceable before use

  • Ensuring compliance with corporate HSE standards and requirements in the line areas

  • In the absence of the rostered supervisor acting in the position for the coordination and supervision of maintenance

  • Ensuring that all maintenance is carried out on time

  • Ensuring all required records of maintenance and certification requirements are completed and processed in accordance with the MOE

Qualification/Experience/Skills

  • Relevant license in at least one of the Aircraft types operated by PNG Air, preferably EASA or CASA

  • Minimum 5 years in hands experience in the aviation industry

  • Have extensive experience in a similar role in aviation

  • Experience in PNG is ideal, but not essential

This position is based at the PNG Air Head Office, Port Moresby Papua New Guinea with options of travel to and from Cairns or Brisbane, Australia. Accommodation and transport will be provided whilst on duty in Port Moresby.

PNG Air requires all new employees to produce a police clearance and undergo a pre-commencement drug and alcohol screen, which must return a satisfactory result.
