A client of ours is seeking a number of Avionic Systems Engineers to be responsible to the Top Flight Satcom - Next Generation (TFS-NG) Systems Engineering Manager for the execution and delivery of assigned civil Work Packages and tasks to budget and schedule on TFS-NG. The successful candidates will be working on the next generation Air to Ground system on site in Crawley.


  • To execute Systems Engineering WPs and Tasks in accordance with the Company DDQS Process and the relevant Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and associated subordinate Engineering Plans
  • To work closely in support of the relevant Systems Engineering Manager to ensure the delivery of development WPs to cost, schedule and quality
  • To provide expertise focussed toward requirements capture and / or systems integration
  • To work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure the correct flow down of requirements and flow up of compliance evidence
  • To support Programme Management in the identification, mitigation and closure of Dependencies, Risks & Opportunities


We are looking for a mixture of the following skills to fulfil the four requirements:

  • Knowledge of existing Avionics SATCOM Products and System developments. In particular knowledge of Inmarsat services and Swift Broadband are sought (specifically ARINC 781, 761 & 741)
  • Proven ability on Multi-Channel Satellite (MCS) or TFS communication systems
  • Good knowledge of Civil Aviation Communications Systems and Networks both current and future visions & trends
  • Civil Avionic Systems knowledge, specifically certification and airworthiness
  • Good understanding of Engineering Standards, engineering processes and maturity models
  • Familiarity with ARP4754 (in particular part 25 sections 1301 and 1309) and ARP4761
  • Demonstrable knowledge and guidance to support RTCA DO-178B software development and DO-254 hardware development
  • Team player who can interface well with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Good Communications skills
  • Good analytical skills
