AVAILABILITY RELIABILITY AND MAINTAINABILITY (AR&M) ENGINEER

Location: Keynsham, Bristol

Duration: Initially until 31st December 2016

Rate: £40 - £50 per hour LTD

A client of ours seeks an AR&M Engineer to work on site in Keynsham. The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following;

  • Conduct AR&M in accordance with the AR&M Elements of the MS Integrated Support Plans (ISPs)
  • Assist policy setting and in the formulation of the AR&M planning
  • Determine the target / allocated reliability figures from an overall system availability requirement, as well as commenting on definitions of system failures
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the major system AR&M requirements and drivers
  • Execute ongoing Case Work relating to systems as directed by AR&M Lead. Activities include review and appreciation of requirements, understanding of system function, configuration and operation (using technical drawings etc.) ,review of issues logs, Learning From Experience (LfE) database etc. design liaison, drawing of conclusions and making of recommendations
  • Perform AR&M calculations and predictions to quality, schedule and budget requirements; Using appropriate methods / tools. Such work includes system availability modelling, generation of part / equipment level predictions for SBOM population and provision of data to the WB modelling team
  • Write and review as required, technical reports and presentations, most notably AR&M Plans / Processes, AR&M Case Repots and AR&M text for SDDIDs
  • Ensure the correct population of project databases, notably the Master Data and Assumptions List (MDAL) and the Issues and Observations Register (IOR)
  • Provide specialist AR&M expertise and advice, as required to other parties, stakeholders, most notably WBSI modelling team, MSTA designers and other Transversal engineering teams
  • Organise, attend and provide representation at meetings and working groups
  • Ensure the correct interactions and outputs regarding AR&M within the programme, most notably derivable are to quality, schedule and budget requirements and correct AR&M standards, processes are applied throughout. Ensure data governance, configuration, validity and integrity
  • Deputise for and support the MSS Lead as required
  • Any other duties, within capabilities, as directed by MSS Lead

PROVEN ABILITY / KEY SKILLS

  • Understanding of systems found on board submarines
  • Extensive knowledge in AR&M
  • Relevant support and modelling knowledge in a defence and / or services environment
  • A good understanding and ideally proven ability of MoD contracts and support related policies

ADDITIONAL

Due to the sensitive nature of the product all applicants must have worked within the Defence / Military industry within the last 12 months or be capable of obtaining Security Clearance (SC level minimum).
