CAE Parc are accepting applications for the role of Area Compliance Monitoring, Quality & Safety Officer, for our client, a Pilot Training Organization based in United Kingdom.

Job Role:

To provide support and advice to project teams and functional groups within the organization on all matters relating to compliance and quality management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform the day-to-day QA functions within the training centre, including:
    • Development and maintenance of the annual Quality Monitoring Program (QMP) to include the scheduling of audits / inspections / Management Evaluations;
      • Conducting planned audits and inspections on operations, facilities, equipment, documents & records to ensure compliance with applicable Civil Aviation Authorities, customer, and/or CAE QMS requirements;
      • Establishing, performing follow-up, and ensuring effective closure of corrective and/or preventive actions;
      • Ensuring an adequate number of local trained Internal Quality Auditors and managing this team (if required to ensure compliance);
      • Scheduling and chairing the quarterly Management Evaluation Meetings to review the performance of the QMS with the local management team, and follow-up on action items raised during the meetings.
    • Report to Global QA/CI on the status of the local QMS (including audits, inspections and internal training) as directed.
    • Participate in the monthly regional QA/CI team conference call meetings to give updates on his/her own training centre, and provide/get feedback to/from the team on best practices, issues, initiatives etc for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the CAE network.
    • Ensure that all training centre employees are current with required initial / refresher QA/CI Training;
  • Lead external audits conducted by National Aviation Authorities (NAAs), OEMs, & customers, and:
    • Assist in the implementation of corrective actions and responses to NAAs to all issues that arise from external inspections, audits & FSTD qualifications (as applicable);
    • Assist in the implementation of corrective actions and responses to customers to all issues that arise from external inspections and audits;
  • Ensure, in liaison with the Head of Training that:
    • All Training Course Curricula are up-to-date and have current approvals by the required NAAs; 
  • All Instructor / Examiner qualifications are up-to-date and have current approvals by the required NAAs;
  • Ensure, in liaison with the Technical Manager, that all Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs) have current approvals by the relevant NAAs;
  • In support of the CAT EURAF Safety Manager post-holder, act as the Safety Officer focal point for the Area Training Centres with the following responsibilities:
    • Co-ordinate, collate and maintain aviation safety and hazard reports and provide to the Safety Manager for risk assessment purposes
    • Monitor Safety Management processes and assist in determining their effectiveness in avoiding or managing risk
    • Assist with the provision of safety training and briefing materials, and maintain employee training records for the relevant Area Training Centres, as appropriate  
    • Support the awareness and promotion of the SMS
  • Functional report to the Compliance Monitoring Manager on all aviation regulatory governance issues;
  • Ensure satisfactory levels of document & record control within the training centre;
  • Work on Regional and/or local continuous improvement and quality projects;
  • Facilitate the training of local staff, e.g. Q-Pulse, TCOM, Gemini, Six Sigma, and other global tools /  process implementations;
  • Facilitate the collection of training centre quality metrics for the Area and report to the Area Leader;
  • Develop local policies, procedures and processes, as relevant, to ensure a comprehensive level of QMS documentation;
  • Act as the point-of-contact for the Area training centres on process management issues;
  • Work with the Area Leader on leveraging best practices and information sharing with other CAE training centres;
  • Act as the local QMS point of contact:
    • Communicating any global / regional / local business process changes to Area training centre personnel.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of pertinent aviation regulations.
  • Broad knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
  • Broad knowledge of customer quality requirements.
  • Broad knowledge of all processes and procedures within the Company.
  • Good organisational and co-ordination skills.
  • Good PC skills (Excel, Word. Project, Access and IQRS software).
  • Good communication skills.
  • The role involves the continuous improvement of the QMS and the introduction of best practice to meet the Company’s specific requirements, as well as ensuring that our processes are followed across the whole company.  This involves helping departments to analyze their performance and change their processes to improve their performance, and visiting external (best practice) organizations for ideas that can be readily assimilated to our organization.
  • The job holder contributes to processes and gives advice which impacts across the Company.  Day-to-day decisions on quality matters are taken by the job holder, with minimal reference to the Training Centre Leader.
  • Frequent contact within the organization with all departments and management.
  • External point of contact for customers, suppliers and other partners on all quality matters.
  • Some domestic and overseas travel may be required from time to time.
