AIT Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Stevenage

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 12 months

Hours: 37 per week

Pay rate: circa £22.00 p/h LTD

Security Clearance required: ISC

 

Assembly, Integration and Test Quality Assurance engineer to support the Mars Rover. The project is in the preliminary phase of design and production definition with build starting now. The role requires the QA Engineer to work both in preparation phase and on the build start. Knowledge of quality and or product assurance in an engineering industry, aerospace or military is required. Ability to work unsupervised

Use of IT systems is mandatory. Background in quality design engineering or production engineering required.

Role mission:

Lead and assure Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test excellence in MAIT

Perform Quality Assurance (QA) activities, by ensuring correct implementation of procedures and processes, to ensure product quality meets the stated requirements

Promote and lead good practice and improvements in MAIT processes

Manage completion of corrective actions to closure

Provide assurance and confirmation that Hardware is ready for test

Provide assurance and confirmation that Hardware is ready for delivery

 

Qualifications and/or Skills

Essential:   

GCSE’s English & Maths.

Aerospace, Engineering Quality or Production qualifications

 

Experience

Essential: Served as a Quality Assurance (QA) or Product Assurance (PA) Engineer in the Aerospace industry, demonstrative experience of problem solving.

Must have an Electrical and Mechanical engineering background

ESA experience and knowledge would be good. Project review experience is very important

 

Desirable:

Demonstrative achievements in Lean/ continuous improvement projects, Hardware project experience would be good.

Lean, continual improvement qualifications.

 

About you:

  • Good communicator, able to lead and influence at all levels from the clean room up to senior management, internally and externally
  • Good team worker with strong interpersonal and persuasive skills
  • Organised, practical and logical in work approach
  • User and promoter of quality tools and methods, particularly risk management and metrics.
  • Ability to accomplish validation activities at height using above ground level support structures
  • Good agility required to access and work in confined spaces
  • Good visual acumen
  • Knowledge of Space Quality standards
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and Europe when required
  • Willingness to work on shift, on-call or off-site for short periods when required
