Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) is a highly specialised and essential part of the Ministry of Defence. Their purpose is to equip and support the UK’s Armed Forces for operations now and in the future. DE&S work with the Military Commands (Army, Navy and Royal Air Force) and MOD Head Office to manage complex programmes that deliver equipment and support to the UK’s Armed Forces.
DE&S are seeking experienced Engineers with a broad base of skills, knowledge and experience to fill a number of engineering posts within the DE&S Air Environment.
DE&S welcome applicants currently outside the Air industry with previous exposure to working in the Aerospace Sector.
The Air Environment consists of three principle Operating Centres (OCs) delivering a wide variety of air systems and associated equipment to the front line:
Combat Air OC is responsible for delivering combat aircraft, training solutions and Unmanned Air Systems acquisition programmes and in-service support to Military Commands. Platforms include Red Arrow Display Team, Typhoon & new F-35 (Lighting II) Chinook, Merlin & Apache helicopters.
Air Support OC is responsible for delivering and supporting & Tactical and Transport aircraft fleets; including A400M, Voyager, C130J, C-17, Sentry, and Air Seeker aircraft.
Helicopter OC is responsible for the delivery and support of all frontline helicopter platforms used by and in support of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Platforms include: Chinook, Merlin, Wildcat & Apache helicopyters.
Currently DE&S are actively recruiting for Aerospace Candidates to fulfill a number of posts within the following areas:
Mechanical Aircraft Systems (including structures) and Aircraft Engines Engineers to manage the integrity of these complex systems through the lifecycle of the air system and inform the development of design changes for these systems to mitigate risks.
Avionics and Aircraft Software Engineers to manage the integrity of these complex systems through the lifecycle of the air system & inform the development of design changes for these systems to mitigate risks.
Air Systems Management Engineers to manage a wide range of off-aircraft equipment & support products as well as controlling design configuration of each type & the supporting aircraft document set.
Safety Engineers and Managers to execute and enhance the safety management systems through which DE&S can assure the frontline that the design of each air system is safe and airworthy.
Systems and Project Engineers to manage the development and introduction to service the next generations of UK Military Air Systems.
