No previous experience or hotel management training is required for entry to this first year programme which starts from the very beginning and introduces the basic ingredients of a hotel manager's necessary skill portfolio. There is currently a huge demand worldwide for professionally qualified travel staff, particularly those who have been professionally trained to deal with the complexities of international airline ticket sales. The CTHCM Diploma in Travel Agency Management has been specifically designed to provide for this segment of the job market and gives comprehensive training in the management, computing, and airline ticketing skills that are required by the industry. Virgin Atlantic approved instructors use course materials and study manuals prepared by the airline to teach fares and ticketing skills up to IATA Level 2 standard and the sophisticated Galileo Computerised Reservation System to full Virgin Atlantic 'competency' level. BA (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management (Final Year) placed on: 18/09/2002
As from July 2004 the college has become a partner institute of Bournemouth University, and will be offering the final year of their BA (Hons) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. Whilst this is mainly aimed at students who have gained the CTHCM Advanced Diploma in either Hotel Management or Tourism Management, it is also open to suitably qualified direct entrants. This means that first year students enrolling on either the CTHCM Diploma in Hotel Management or the CTHCM Diploma in Travel Agency Management are in effect taking the first year of a BA (Hons) programme. On successful completion of the Diploma students can proceed to the CTHCM Advanced Diploma and, from there, to the BA (Hons) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management "top-up".
